Our Founder

When I was young, I came across an article about Tibet, and that was the starting point for me to know about Tibet.
The fascinating the snow-covered plateau, the distressing poor Tibetan life, and the devout faith of Tibetans make myself yearn for the pure and full spiritual power of the plateau.

And so, the adventure begins
Over the past four years, I have traveled to my dream serendipity Tibet numerous times. During one spiritual journeys after another, not only did I see picturesque scenery, kind Tibetans, sacred temples, but also found my deepest self. By chance, an esteemed senior gave me a Tibetan name representing Lotus – Pema. I would like to introduce myself thereafter. My love for Tibet transcends the place where I was born and any city I live in.I poured my love for Tibet into an online website dedicated to supporting Tibetan artists and the poor in the region.

We appreciate that you are a part of this path of good karma.

Core Weaving Processes of Zhuang Brocade

  1. Spinning

    • Fluff raw cotton, remove seeds, twist fibers into strips, and spin into uniform yarn using a spinning wheel. Materials include cotton, hemp, and silk threads.

    • Sub-steps: Delinting → Cotton Fluffing → Rolling Strips → Spinning.

  2. Dyeing

    • Use plant-based dyes: red (ochre/sappanwood), yellow (yellow clay/turmeric), blue (indigo), green (tree bark/grass), gray (black soil/ash). Ensures colorfastness and vibrancy.

  3. Starching

    • Soak yarn in rice water or starch paste for 1 hour, knead evenly, and air-dry. Enhances durability and tensile strength.

  4. Winding

    • Wind dyed yarn onto bobbins for efficient handling during weaving.

  5. Drawing & Twisting

    • Manually stretch and twist fibers to adjust length and toughness, forming warp-ready threads.

  6. Combing & Warping

    • Three-person collaboration: one feeds yarn, one combs fibers, one winds onto the warp beam. Prevents tangling and aligns threads for the loom.

  7. Heddling & Reed Threading

    • Thread warp yarns through heddles (for pattern control) and reed (for density adjustment). Errors require rework.

  8. Pattern Weaving

    • Continuous Weft: Single-color brocade; weft threads run uninterrupted.

    • Broken Weft: Multi-color designs; frequent shuttle changes and weft cutting. Complex patterns (e.g., phoenix, dragons) progress at ~10cm/day.

    • Patterns follow symbolic rules: e.g., “red with green, never vulgar” .

Bag Crafting Processes

  1. Pattern Design

    • Adapt traditional motifs (phoenix, butterflies, octagonal patterns) to modern bag shapes (tote, bucket bag) using precise blueprints.

  2. Cutting

    • Cut brocade fabric according to design, preserving pattern integrity.

  3. Lining & Stitching

    • Sew cotton/linen lining for structural support. Reinforce openings with drawstrings or leather edging.

  4. Rattan Accessory Making (for select styles)

    • Peel and sun-dry Dicranopteris linearisvines, soften in water, and hand-weave into bag bodies/handles (3–4 hours/unit).

  5. Assembly

    • Join brocade, lining, and hardware (e.g., adjustable straps) via hand-stitching for weight-bearing reliability.

Key Cultural & Technical Notes

  • Time Intensity: 3 days for 1m simple pattern; complex designs: ~10cm/day (“inch brocade, inch gold”).

  • Eco-Materials: Natural fibers (cotton/silk) + plant dyes.

  • Symbolism:

    • Phoenix: auspiciousness; Dragons: nobility; Swastika: eternity.

  • Innovations: Modified looms (60cm → 120cm width); fusion with rattan weaving (dual intangible heritage).

  • Example: Rattan bucket bag (19×14×9cm) with dragon-pattern brocade and leather trim. Production time: 27 hours +.

  • Guangxi intangible cultural heritage

  • Chinese ethnic handmade bag

  • boho fashion tote

  • eco-friendly artisanal handbag
